OUARFC is affiliated to AFL England.

As of 2022 we play in the Men's and Women's National University League (NUL) and our Women also play in the new WWE9's League.

Outside these leagues we play multiple friendlies each year against UK Clubs.

Our traditional rivalry is against Cambridge (CUARFC), and we play the annual Varsity Match against them as a feature match each season.

National University League

The primary league that OUARFC play in is the NUL. We play a series of games against Cambridge, Birmingham and South Wales. Oxford has performed well in this competition and hopes to see it grow to include more teams.

In its inaugural 2018 season, Oxford won the Men's Division, defeating the University of Birmingham in the Grand Final by a score of 17.12 (114) to 6.6 (42) thanks to nine goals from our 2018/19 leading goalkicker Ben Doherty. Meanwhile, Birmingham defeated Oxford in the Women's Division Grand Final 5.11 (41) to 3.7 (25). The 2019/20 season was curtailed due by the coronavirus pandemic before the Grand Finals could take place.

Varsity

Certainly, the highlight of each year is our annual Varsity match against Cambridge. The 2022 Varsity was the 102nd for Men and the 5th for Women.

Varsity is always a highly competitive game of AFL for both Men and Women, and a true highlight of the UK AFL calendar.

The 102nd Men's Varsity and the 5th Women's Varsity were both won by Oxford on the 26th of February 2022.

WWE9s League

The WWEAFL 9s (Women's Wales and England Australian Football League) was set up in 2021. It was formed as an expansion of the SEWARFL (South England and Wales Australian Football League) that started in 2018.

Oxford Women were Premiers of the inaugural WWE9 Season in 2021!

Clubs in this league include the Sussex Swans, The Bristol Dockers, the Nottingham Scorpions and the Cardiff Panthers.
